Emmanuel Kofi Adanu

Vice President

Dr. Kofi Adanu is a transport safety researcher, educator, and transport infrastructure financing expert with more than a decade of experience spanning academia, policy, and applied transportation research across Africa and the United States. He currently serves as Research Professor at The University of Alabama, where he leads and collaborates on multidisciplinary projects focused on transportation safety analytics, mobility systems, and infrastructure policy. His interdisciplinary training uniquely positions him at the intersection of engineering, statistics, business, and public policy. He has authored or co-authored over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and conference papers published in leading journals. 

Beyond research, Dr. Adanu is actively engaged in global road safety leadership. He has facilitated international workshops, mentoring researchers and practitioners in road safety management and transport planning and infrastructure financing. Dr. Adanu is particularly passionate about translating research into practical policy solutions for safer, more sustainable, and equitable transportation systems, with a strong focus on Africa’s rapidly evolving mobility landscape.
